Quarry (or Quary) presents in detail the advantages of fortifying and securing Port Royal (S.C.) as a bastion against the activities of the Spaniards in St. Augustine. "Provisions may be carried from Port Royal to Jamaica in ten days or twelve and to the Caribbean Islands in fourteen or sixteen days ... considering how cheap they may be bought in Port Royal it will be a very great advantage."
